I, well, we are years off from having a child. But even now I have concerns. The goal is to be able to put our child(ren) through private school should they want to go. I want to be able to give them everything that they need and deserve. I don’t want to have to say no to them not because they are in trouble or undeserving, but out of a lack of time or money. What really troubles me is how to raise them. I don’t want them to just be your run-of-the-mill ‘hard-working good person.’ I want them to be driven, compassionate, cultured, well-rounded, down-to-earth, sophisticated, dedicated, educated, and a tad bit odd. I find balance in life to be very important, and the best way to achieve such is through persistence and consistency. Well at least that’s my opinion. So how do I raise a balanced human being? Will it even work. I was a horrible teenager, my mom taught me to be a good person blah blah blah. Church all day everyday, tons of groundings, all of which should have made me get it. But I didn’t. What if God gives me another me? How do I deal with that? I know how I thought, and even though I had no phone, TV, Internet, life, or the ability to leave my house, I was gonna do whatever I wanted. And I did. So for a while now I’ve been thinking of how I’m going to deal. Here’s a few.

-When something is wrong, and I ask what’s wrong, let them tell the whole story. Don’t interrupt, don’t get mad, just let them say their piece and then offer advice. If you attack them after asking them to be vulnerable to you, they’re never going to tell you anything.

-If there’s something that you want, that probably is going to get a ‘no’, try to reason. If you have a good argument how can I say no? But I can only be so understanding. You’re not allowed to go on a date with a rapist in a abandoned warehouse wearing nothing but socks at three in the morning.

-If you like someone, then you like someone. Once you become interested in the opposite sex, there’s no stopping it.

-A Harvard law degree and a million dollars does not mean success. If all you want to be in life is a cashier then, great. But you better be the best one there is.

-There’s a million more…
